A home is not defined by the rooms it contains, but by the moments that happen between them.
Designed for a family of four, The Space Between reimagines a 5-Room HDB apartmentas a home where every day routines become opportunities for connection.
Rather than separating activities with walls, the living, dining and work areas are planned as one continuous environment, allowing parents to work while remaining present, children to play within sight, and daily rituals to naturally become shared family moments. A circular ceiling anchors the living space, symbolising unity as the family gathers for movie nights and meaningful time together.
Inspired by Bauhaus principles, the design balances functionality with emotion. A calm white palette creates clarity, while blue, chosen by the homeowners for its sense of warmth, romance and tranquillity, forms the emotional identity of the home. Integrated storage minimises visual clutter, and a flexible pegboard evolves with the children, displaying toys, artwork and memories as they grow.
The Space Between demonstrates that thoughtful design is not about creating more space, but about helping a family grow together, where every shared moment becomes part of the home itself.
